Environmental Inspiration

The stunning rainbow pattern created by oil separating from water inspired me to start researching painting using this method of hydrophobic polarity. I stumbled upon the works of David Beltra, in particular his collection “Spill.” When I learned that these works of art, with their swirling colors and perfectly placed hues, were actually aerial photographs of the most devastating oil spill in history, my heart sank…However, the irony was not lost on me. Just like love that began but became to an untimely end, it can be said that sometimes the most beautiful things in life are the most heartbreaking.

This album is dedicated to preservation and conservation of my backyard, Long Island Sound and proceeds of the record are donated to Save the Sound.Org.

The album is written in two parts,
part I: oil and part II: water.
